My curator friend Carol McCusker just sent me the link to the illustrations Maira Kalman did after the Obama inauguration. They are so full of freshness, new perspective and positiveness of the event . . . that I feel like Maira took me with her to D.C.
Maira was the wife of Tibor Kalman the deceased director of M&Co. Her work is shown at the Julie Saul Gallery in Manhattan. She lives in New York City and teaches graduate courses in design at the School of Visual Arts. “And the Pursuit of Happiness,” about American democracy, will appear on the last Friday of each month in The New York Times. -Ron w/ excerpts from The New York Times
